Sowore proposes e-FEC to cut governance costs

Former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate and political activist, Omoyele Sowore, has proposed an electronic Federal Executive Council (e-FEC) system to reduce the high cost of governance in Nigeria if elected to office in the future.

Sowore made the proposal during a live radio programme in Ibadan, where he addressed key issues surrounding governance, transparency, and national development.

According to him, implementing an e-governance structure for the Federal Executive Council would enhance operational flexibility, foster transparency, and align Nigeria’s governance with global standards.

“The cost of running government in Nigeria is outrageously high and unsustainable,” Sowore said.

“An e-FEC will cut down unnecessary expenses, make government business more transparent, and promote efficiency in decision-making processes.”

He emphasised that embracing digital governance is essential for any democratic society aiming to be globally competitive and responsive to its citizens.

In addition to advocating for digital reforms, Sowore criticised the current administration for its handling of healthcare, security, and economic development. He urged leaders to prioritise affordable healthcare, strengthen socio-economic structures, and improve national security.

“Nigerians deserve a healthier society, and that begins with access to quality healthcare, safety in their communities, and an economy that works for everyone,” he stated
