In a dynamic showcase of ingenuity and cultural fusion, a leading interior design company, Spazio Ideale took centre stage recently at Design Week Lagos.

With the theme “Is Africa Design the Future?”, Creative Director, Spazio Ideale, Tomi Olatunbode, disclosed the firm has transformed the spaces of brands like; Kuda Micro Finance Bank, Paystack, Ernst & Young (EY), Four Points by Sheraton, Ulesson, Heritage Bank Innovation Lab, among others.

Driven by a visionary approach, Olatunbode said Spazio Ideale is dedicated to improving lives through exceptional design and excellent execution.

At Design Week Lagos, Spazio Ideale’s booth stood as a testament of their commitment to innovation by merging the past with the future.

Inspired by the excellence, the booth is a fine mix, with current 3D realisation and futuristic virtual reality. The booth design speaks volumes about the evolution of design and its transformative impact on innovation.

This evolution, from manual 2D sketches to the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality technologies, symbolise the strides Africa is making in design and technology.

Aware of this progress, Olatunbode noted that Spazio Ideale is at the forefront of embracing advancements to elevate African design to global standards.

As a creative interior design company, Spazio Ideale recognises the need to throw out the rule book and re-imagine design from an African perspective.

Olatunbode said: “The unconventional orientation of their booth challenges conventional thinking, urging us to think beyond imagination and harness our unique identity and the natural resources available to us. This forward-thinking approach extends to sustainability, utilising local raw materials to create spaces, that not only look good but contribute positively to the environment.”

The firm also showcased its innovative furniture product, the Itunu Desk. Launched in 2022, Ijoko made its first debut in the product design space with the release of the Itunu desk; part of its work-from-home-kit collection. The desk is evidence of a new era of design, breaking free from Western conventions. The Itunu Comfort Desk also bridges tradition and progress, where comfort and style, merge in a narrative that speaks to the evolving landscape of work and design.

The rope storage pays subtle homage to African heritage, infusing the desk with a unique identity. This marks a shift towards designing for Africans, rather than conforming to external influences.
