State-owned power project won’t be free, says Diri

IPAC lauds Diri’s achievements, salutes Bayelsans at 29

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has said that power from the state’s Independent Power Plant (IPP), when completed, will not be free.

Diri made the clarification yesterday when he visited the project site to inspect six of the eight new 60 megawatt gas turbines at Elebele in Ogbia Local Council.

The power equipment and its accessories arrived in the state about a week ago.

This was as the Bayelsa chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) commended the governor for his landmark achievements in the state and congratulated him on the 29th anniversary of the state’s creation.

In a statement to mark the state’s creation, IPAC Chairman in the state, Simeon Imomotimi, stated without mincing words that the governor stands tall and unmatched among those who have so far administered the state in terms of infrastructural development.

Supported by other members across the political parties in the state, including the Secretary, Peace Oruama, he said Diri performed overwhelmingly in most areas.
