
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar 111, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and daughter of the President, Iyaloja Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, were among those who paid their condolences to the Ambassador at Large to the African Region, International Human Right Commission (IHRC), Dr. Malami Shehu Ma’aji, who lost his wife, Hajiya Khadijah Malami Shehu Ma’aji, during child birth.
Hajiya Malami Ma’aji died after giving birth to a set of twins, and was buried according to Islamic rites, in Kaduna, at the weekend. Akume and his entourage were at the Ambassador’s house in Abuja to officially condole him over the death.
Among other dignitaries who paid condolence visits, sent messages were Minister of Water Resources, Bello Gwaranyo, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, the Director General (DG) DSS; the Chairman NDLEA, Brig Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) ; Permanent Secretary Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo; former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ibrahim Magu; and former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu (rtd).
Others are Major Hamza Almustapha (rtd), Senator Abu Ibrahim, Buba Galadima, and Professor Yahaya Kuta. The traditional leaders who also condole the deceased family included, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe, Emir of Kagara and Emir of Borgu among many others personalities.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Ma’aji expressed his appreciation to the dignitaries who were there physically or sent messages. He said: “ I want to use this medium to appreciate you all, particularly the SGF, daughter of the President, Sultan of Sokoto, Ministers, senators, head of security agencies, traditional leaders and politicians for being with me and my family at this critical time”.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador continued to receive condolences and visits from groups and individuals. Hajiya Ma’aji died on Friday, shortly after giving birth to a set of twins was buried at Unguwar Sarki Burial Ground, Kaduna, in accordance with Islamic rites.
