Team Imago wins N10m at All Talentz Hackathon with affordable ultrasound innovation

A team of six young Nigerians has emerged victorious at the maiden All Talentz Hackathon, winning N10 million for creating an affordable ultrasound machine and companion app designed to put maternal care directly in the hands of mothers.

Speaking after the announcement, Team Imago leader Godsfavour Ahamisi explained the device’s significance: “This device is as affordable as a mobile phone. A typical ultrasound machine costs N12 million in Nigeria whereas Imago X costs about N200,000. Apart from solving the problem of cost, we are also addressing overpopulated hospitals and the lack of ultrasound availability in many facilities.”

The Imago X system allows pregnant women to take ultrasounds independently, without needing a doctor or other medical practitioner. Ahamisi added that the device also features an AI assistant capable of providing reminders about menstrual cycles, expected delivery dates, dietary advice, and other guidance through both text and audio. “We have launched the Imago application, and we will start producing the product and launch it soon.

We believe that technology is a tool to solve problems, and we are solving healthcare problems,” he said.

The six-member team, made up of doctors, engineers, and other professionals, was selected from more than 300 applicants, narrowed down to 10 finalists who presented their innovations to a four-member judging panel led by tech solution engineer Theodore Chukwudi. Team UNICBT was awarded N1 million as second runner-up, while Waste to Wages earned N2 million as first runner-up.

All Talentz founder and CEO Sadiq Isu said the hackathon reflects the company’s mission to showcase Nigerian talent globally. “Currently, we have clients in the US and in the Canadian market, and we want to give them quality.

People don’t understand what Nigerian youths stand for, and to build capacity, we decided to create All Talentz Hackathon,” he said. Isu noted that the preparation for the hackathon began two months prior and was inspired during a trip to a tech event in Kentucky.

As part of the prize, Team Imago will travel to San Francisco in October 2025 to attend the Global Tech Crunch Conference, an opportunity to gain further exposure within the global tech community. “We are solving a universal problem, and we have the capability to branch into many streams,” Ahamisi said.

The hackathon victory underscores the growing role of Nigerian innovators in addressing healthcare and technological challenges, while highlighting the potential of local solutions to compete on a global stage.
