The Nigerian Economic Society (NES) has announced the conferment of honorary membership on The Guardian Business Editor, Geoff Omokhafe lyatse, in recognition of his significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic and financial sectors.

The award, officially communicated in a letter dated July 2, 2024 and signed by the President and Chairman Governing Council of NES, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, outlined Iyatse’s exceptional works in national development and economic policy process, especially through the field of journalism.

Adenikinju said the newly created honorary membership category is designed to honour individuals who have made substantial contributions to the country’s economic discourse.

“We implore you to sustain your good work while using your platform to promote the ideals and activities of the Nigerian Economic Society in unravelling insight to economic developments. We look forward to welcoming you as an Honorary Member and your continued involvement with our organisation,” he said.

An award-winning journalist, Iyatse originally graduated from mass communication but has a degree in economics from the University of Ibadan.
