Former Managing Director of The Guardian, Lade Bonuola, was, at the weekend, honoured with an award by Area 8 Residents Association (ARA), OPIC Estate, Agbara, during the grand finale of ARA Week celebration in recognition and appreciation of his selfless service to the community.

Bonuola, who is one of the first residents in the area, was rewarded for continually contributing to the development of the community, among others.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of ARA, OPIC Estate, Ayodele Arogundade, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the association’s week celebration.

“This week has been nothing short of remarkable as we have come together to celebrate the strength of our community, to honour the visionaries who have led this association, and to embrace a future filled with greater possibilities.

“Today, we are not just marking another year in the life of our association; we are celebrating the values that have united us as neighbours, the spirit of service and the progress we have achieved together.”

Arogundade said that the association’s journey over the years had been a collective effort, and the week’s celebration had also reflected its strength as a united and forward-looking community.

He thanked OPIC management for the huge assistance in reducing the impact of flooding in the estate.

Also speaking, Bonuola said that it is important to make contributions no matter how little it is wherever one finds himself or herself.

“The community belongs to us and if it is doing well, it is for the good of everybody, and if it is sinking, it is everybody that will suffer,” Bonuola said.
