Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN), a civil society organisation dedicated to good governance and policy reforms, has hailed the synergy between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the National Assembly, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, as transformative and pro-masses.
Speaking at the 5th edition of the Godswill Akpabio Leadership and Youth Mentorship Lecture Series, Amb. Solomon Adodo said the partnership between the executive and legislature is yielding tangible results for grassroots development and national empowerment.
“The APC-led government under President Tinubu, working closely with the National Assembly, continues to implement life-changing programs that directly impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.
Adodo cited the creation of regional development commissions as a major achievement in bringing governance closer to the people, adding that these commissions are tasked with fostering economic growth, infrastructure development, and social services in underdeveloped regions, ensuring that no community is left behind.
He also highlighted government-backed youth empowerment initiatives, including skill acquisition programs, microcredit schemes, and the distribution of tools and machinery to enhance self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
“The passage of enabling legislation for these programs demonstrates the Senate’s and the President’s shared commitment to addressing the everyday challenges of citizens. Senator Godswill Akpabio has consistently demonstrated courage, magnanimity, and an open-door policy, with legacy projects that continue to benefit communities nationwide,” Adodo added.
In his keynote address, Barr. Cosmas Akighir, Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), described Senator Akpabio as “a true nationalist and patriot who has served Nigeria with distinction.”
He noted that Akpabio’s support was instrumental in fast-tracking the NCDC and aligning its programs with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasises economic growth, youth empowerment, regional development, and job creation.
A highlight of the lecture was the direct empowerment of youths and unemployed Nigerians with tools and equipment worth millions of naira, aimed at boosting livelihoods and entrepreneurship.
The event drew participants from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including youths, middle-aged Nigerians, elected and appointed officials, captains of industry, civil society representatives, and religious and traditional leaders.
The lecture series reinforced the message that strategic collaboration between the executive and legislative arms, under the APC, is yielding tangible pro-masses results—from infrastructure and economic empowerment to skills development—demonstrating a commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable national growth.
