FEC Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is presiding over day two of the resumed Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting currently underway in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The council went into a closed door moments after Tinubu was ushered into the chamber by his Aide de Camp, Col Nurudeen Yusuf, with the State Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Victor Adeleke, leading the procession.

FEC was adjourned Monday to continue today in continuation of deliberations of the items on the agenda.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed that the meeting will spill into the next day due to a long backlog of memos.

“Let me also say that there is also another Federal Executive Council meeting coming up tomorrow (today),” Idris said.

“Recall that since December, we’ve not had anyone, so a lot of memos have gathered. And the President is determined to dispense with all of them.

“So we want to say that tomorrow (today) there will be another press briefing after the FEC meeting.”

Council had on Monday approved a total of $1.07 billion in financing for healthcare sector reforms under the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) programme, as well as a N4.8 billion allocation for HIV treatment, signaling a major investment in Nigeria’s health sector.

The members during their closed-door also approved road infrastructure contracts worth N4.2 trillion, covering key highways and bridges across Nigeria among others.
