Tinubu’s reforms ensuring economic stability, fiscal discipline, says Senator Abiru

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidies, unification of the foreign exchange market, and redirection of resources to key sectors have restored economic stability and fiscal discipline.

He, therefore, urged continued and collective support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, describing it as a legacy of visionary leadership, courageous reform, and a united Nigeria.

Abiru, who spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders Forum 2025 on Tuesday in Lagos, described President Tinubu’s leadership as courageous, visionary, and transformative, while reaffirming his support for the president.

He said: “Two years ago, Nigerians entrusted him with the leadership of our nation at one of the most difficult moments in our modern history. The economy was in distress, public confidence shaken, and our national direction uncertain. Yet, true to his courage and visionary spirit, President Tinubu chose the harder but more honourable path: the path of reform, restructuring, and renewal.”

He noted key achievements, including the NELFUND educational loans for over 510,000 students, CrediCorp loans worth ₦30 billion to 150,000 Nigerians, the introduction of a new ₦70,000 minimum wage, and Project Bridge, a 90,000km fibre optic network that powers digital transformation.

Abiru also commended the synergy between the National Assembly and the Executive, noting that landmark laws, including the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, the Nigerian Tax Reform Acts 2025, the Student Loan Act, Electricity Act Amendment, Data Protection Act, and Police Reform Bill, Security Agency Acts, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (Amendment) Bill, and Startup Act implementation framework, aim to deepen innovation, protect local content, and nurture the tech ecosystem; and the Revenue Administration Harmonisation Bill, have strengthened the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Bola Tinubu administration.

“These legislative interventions are the backbone of the President’s reforms, providing legal and institutional stability,” he added.

Speaking further, Abiru, the Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum, reaffirmed Lagos’ historic role in progressive governance, recalling how President Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos governor laid the foundation for fiscal innovation and inclusive growth, which is now being replicated nationwide.

“On behalf of the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District and in concert with the collective will of our great party, I proudly and unequivocally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027”, Abiru declared.

Others who graced the event included Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and his predecessors, Babatunde Fashola and Akinwumi Ambode.
