Turks’ abductors allegedly demand N16m ransom in Kwara
Abductors of the four Turkish nationals seized over the weekend at Gbale village in Edu Local Council of Kwara State have allegedly demanded a N16 million ransom to secure the release of the expatriate construction workers.
The Shaaba of Lafiagi, Abdulrahaman Manzuman, who dropped the hint, decried the development, adding that the ugly incident had put the community in bad light.
But the state police command has cautioned against any payment, saying it was stepping up intelligence to effect the safe release of the quartet.
The spokesman, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, however denied any knowledge of the ransom demand.
The captives, Yasin Colak (33); Senerapal (40); Ergun Yurdakul (35); and Seyit Keklik (25), were taken away from a local drinking joint by a six-man armed gang.
