U.S. conservation institute donates books to ABU
The Getty Conservation Institute, USA, has donated dozens of books to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
This is contained in a statement by Auwalu Umar, Director, Public Affairs Directorate of the university, on Friday in Zaria.
He said the book donation was facilitated by Terry Little, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies of the university.
Umar said that Little was at the Getty Trust in Los Angeles, California, where he recently completed a three-month residency as a conservation scholar.
Little, who presented the books to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, said the publications covered theoretical and practical aspects of conserving and managing museum collections, monuments and archaeological sites.
Responding, Bala thanked the Getty Conservation Institute and the conservationist for the gesture.
He said that the books would be housed in the university’s Kashim Ibrahim Library, to provid valuable resources for students and staff in the fields of archaeology, architecture, heritage studiecs and conservation
