A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has congratulated Innocent Ike on his appointment as the substantive Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO) of Access Holdings Plc.
The appointment, announced on Friday, August 29, 2025, was commended by Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State. He described Ike, who hails from Ideato, as a competent professional with the capacity to strengthen the bank’s position in Nigeria’s financial sector.
In a statement, the lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), pledged support for Ike, noting that his success would reflect positively on their constituency and the wider Igbo community.
“I, on behalf of the good people of Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, commend Access Holdings for finding one of us, Mazi Innocent Ike, worthy of appointment as its substantive Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. I congratulate you on this feat attained in your revered banking career,” Ugochinyere said.
He added: “It is my firm belief that you will relish the resilient spirit of Ideato in carrying out your new assignment. We are confident in your ability as you bring in over 30 years of experience in banking and financial services to bear on your new role. As a proud University of Lagos graduate of accounting and a Fellow of both CIBN and ICAN, as well as a certified IFRS expert, your intellectual and professional capacities are not in doubt.”
Ugochinyere highlighted Ike’s earlier contributions to the sector, including his decade-long service at Access Bank, where he rose to the position of General Manager, handling corporate, commercial and public sector portfolios. He also noted Ike’s tenure as Managing Director/CEO of Polaris Bank between 2020 and 2022, where he introduced VULTe, the bank’s digital banking platform.
The lawmaker urged Ike to make the people of Ideato, the Igbo community and Nigerians proud by repositioning Access Holdings Plc as a leading institution in the country’s financial services industry.
