The Anambra State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has called on students to look beyond paper qualifications as a means for survival in life.
He urged them to rely on skills and experience acquired to make a difference in life.
Ukachukwu tasked the students on the need to acquire and apply necessary skills for self-reliance and nation-building.
He spoke at the 6th edition of the Digitized Initiative for Up-skilling Career Development and Innovation (DIUSCADI) with the theme, “Navigating Your Career Path In a Dynamic World,” held at the ASUU Hall, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The Governorship hopeful was represented by the Ikukuoma Campaign Director, Hon. Tony-Uche Ezekwelu, who stated that his life is a testament to less reliance on only paper qualification. That he was already a successful businessman and rich before furthering his education.
According to him, he came from a humble background, but due to his credibility, integrity, and honesty, he became a billionaire at a very young age of twenty-two years.
He said he established a conglomerate of fifteen (15) successful international companies under the Syneco Group, spanning Agriculture, Oil/Gas, Education, Hospitality/Tourism, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Trades/Commerce, etc.
The Syneco Group chief executive observed that a man’s success depends not just on the knowledge acquired through education but also on the application of skills acquired, credibility, integrity, commitment, training, and hard work.
Prince Ukachukwu was the first Igboman to serve as the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). He revealed that he’s the biggest property developer in Abuja, and the biggest manufacturer in Anambra State.
Earlier, the founder of DIUSCADI, Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh, said that LASCADSS is a visionary non-profit youth development platform founded with a mission to digitize and deliver scalable career development pathways for students and graduates through innovation, mentorship, skills acquisition, and real-world exposure.
Dr. Umeh observed that the outfit focuses on aligning transformation with inclusive empowerment at UNIZIK.
He pointed out that the objectives of the platform (DIUSCADI) include bridging the gap between academic learning and career readiness, creating digital and physical platforms for skill-building, enterprise, and empowerment, creating gender inclusion, leadership, and innovation, and informing a new generation of relevant and socially responsible youths.
According to him, DIUSCADI prepares the students for leadership, job provision, and nation-building, adding a long way in lighting the path for many to follow.
He also hinted that LASCADSS, in its sixth edition, provides a platform for career development mentorship, skills acquisition, youth empowerment, industry networking, and job market orientation.
Ukachukwu appreciated the convener of the life-after-school career development workshop with a financial support of one million naira and bagged the “Philanthropy Honours Award” for contributions in uplifting humanity.
One of the resource persons, Chinemerem, observed that the present generation of young citizens are better prepared for post-school life, given a lot of platforms and tech at their reach.
Mr. Oguegbe, the chairman of the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Anambra State, noted that educational pursuit offers students an opportunity to plan towards life outside school and for self-realization.
