UNIDEL matriculates 4,500 students, vows tough stance on cultism and malpractice
The University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has matriculated 4,500 students into various disciplines, with Vice Chancellor Prof Stella Chiemeke warning against cultism, examination malpractice, and other social vices.
The ceremony was held over the weekend at the university’s main campus in Agbor, Ika North Council. Addressing the students, Chiemeke stressed that cultism has no place in UNIDEL, urging any students involved in such activities to renounce their affiliations immediately.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy on cultism, examination malpractice, and indecent dressing. The university is a place for knowledge and personal growth, not a battleground for violence,” she stated.
The Vice Chancellor warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any student engaging in these activities. She highlighted that involvement in cultism often leads to irreversible consequences, such as isolation and violence, sometimes resulting in death.
Chiemeke also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic integrity, noting that examination malpractice would not be tolerated despite admitting 750 additional students this year. She urged students to focus on hard work and perseverance, as cheating undermines the value of their degrees.
Reassuring parents and guardians, Chiemeke promised that students would receive quality education and the moral foundation needed to become responsible citizens.
She encouraged students to participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, and societies to gain skills beyond academics, preparing them for future challenges.
