.Philanthropist urges FG to address poverty, hardship
The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has expressed its readiness to partner with Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hamzat Adebola; Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, Iyabo Yerima and the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Biodun Aikomo, to promote peace and tranquility in the state.
The World Peace Spokesperson and International Director, IAWPA, Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke, gave the promise, yesterday, during the first quarter flag-off of peace campaign in Oyo State, international flag hoisting and appointment of Romoke Sherifat Akeusola as Eminent Peace Ambassador, held at Ikolaba Estate, Ibadan.
Akeusola was appointed as ambassador for her philanthropic strides in helping the downtrodden and less-privileged.
Nkweke said: ”Oyo State is making us proud. It will become the headquarters of peace advocates in the South-West. If you have the right vision, the vision will become a reality. 2024 will be peaceful. Our language is to always talk peace. The Eminent Peace Ambassador is coming from only one organisation. This is not an award but an appointment. It is to support the United Nations to realise its peace agenda. We are ready to partner with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, the Chief Judge and the Attorney-General of the state to promote peace.”
He, therefore, charged the appointee to continue touching lives.
Meanwhile, Akeusola, who expressed her willingness to do more for the less-privileged and lift more people out of lack and hopelessness, implored the Federal Government to address the issues of prevailing poverty, hardship and make life more comfortable for the masses.
IAWPA is an international civil society organisation with a global mandate to promote peace and appoint credible personalities whose lifestyles are anchored in promoting peace as eminent peace ambassadors across the 193 member-states of the United Nations.
