The Presidency recently released the official list of 101 awardees during 2025 Democracy Day National Honours, recognising eminent Nigerians, both living and dead, who have made significant contributions to the nation’s democratic journey and National development.
The Nigerian National Honours are a set of orders and decorations conferred upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria every year.
The National Award was instituted by the National Honours Act No. 5 of 1964, during the First Nigerian Republic to honour Nigerians who have rendered service to humanity and the benefit of the nation.
These honours serve to an extent as a source of encouragement and appreciation the country has for those who have worked tirelessly for the progress and development of our nation.
The 2025 Nigeria National Honours was conferred on several living and deceased individuals for their contributions to human rights, literature, journalism, politics, civil society, humanity and public service.
But one notable and obvious omission from the list of 2025 Nigeria National nominees was HRM King Apostle Dr Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, founder and General Overseer Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Worldwide.
Despite the fact that the Man of God successfully picked the form, filled and submitted at the appropriate office at the Ministry of special duties and inter governmental affairs, while others are receiving their 2025 National Honors Award letters which the investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at the international Conference center (ICC) Abuja to commemorate the nation 65th independent Day celebration, King Chibuzor Chinyere is yet to receive his award letter.
It is pertinent to draw the attention of our dear President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who is always good at rewarding hard work. HRM King Apostle Dr Chibuzor Gift Chinyere has contributed immensely to national development through his Humanitarian activities.
Even though the Almighty God is the highest rewarder, recognizing Apostle Chibuzor with Nigerian National Award will encourage him to contribute more to the Peace, progress and overall development of our nation.
It will be recalled that his vision to give unhindered access to free education to the poor, needy and underprivileged children has translated to building 38 tuition free schools in almost all the states in Nigeria including FCT. This has brought a significant reduction of the high rate of out of school children in Nigeria. This initiative has helped to ensure that the less privileged and poor have unhindered access to free education in line with the federal government vision. This is a verifiable fact which no church in Nigeria has been able to achieve.
King Chibuzor Chinyere has also built first tuition free girls technical college in Nigeria to enable girls learn special skills before advancing to the higher institutions.
It is also on record that King Chibuzor Chinyere through tithes and offering from the church has built first tuition free school for children Born with autism and Downsyndrome in Nigeria.
In the area of health, King Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere has Made tireless efforts to collaborate with the federal government in reducing the high rate of maternal mortality in Nigeria.
It is a verifiable fact that the Man of God through the offering and tithes from the church has built two states of the art free specialist hospitals to cater for the poor and less privileged pregnant mothers who constitute the highest casualty on the list of maternal mortality. The reason is that the poor cannot afford the money to access a better hospital and would rather resort to quacks leading to the death of the mother and child. From registration, ante natal, drugs scan and operations are free.This is a significant progress King Chibuzor Chinyere has recorded at the health sector in Nigeria which our president should reciprocate by considering him as the national honors award nominee.
In other to collaborate with the government to reduce unemployment in Nigeria and engage the youths to learn special skills to enable them to be self employed, the Man of God built the highest multi free skills acquisition center in port Harcourt to enable Nigerians acquire not fewer than 20 free skills.
OPM free skills acquisition center has trained more than 40,000 Nigerians in different skills free of charge. An effort our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should applaud and honestly reward.
It will also interest Nigerians that King Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere’s vision for education has led him to offer local and overseas scholarships to not fewer than 10,000 less privileged Nigerians who are studying various degree courses in Turkey, Cyprus, Poland, United States of America, Benin Republic and Nigeria. Some have graduated while others are still in school. This gesture is for the development of our nation and should be appreciated by all.
King Chibuzor Chinyere has also contributed in restoring peace in Nigeria. Recall the case of late Deborah Samuel Yakubu, a second-year Christian college student, was stoned to death by a mob of Muslim students in Sokoto, Nigeria, after being accused of blasphemy against Islam on 12th May 2022. The Man of God’s intervention stopped what would have resulted to a religious crisis between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.
When Nigerians are still mourning and thinking what will be the faith of her parents, King Chibuzor Chinyere quickly relocated the family of late Deborah Samuel to port Harcourt and gave them a new lease of life. He bought a 13 mini estate for them and gave them for life making them a permanent landlord in port Harcourt. He also opened a canteen for Late Deborah’s mother, bought a car for transport business for Deborah’s father and award scholarships to all Late Deborah’s siblings From primary school to University. Today they are doing well in port Harcourt.
This singular action taken by King Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere brought national healing and should be remembered.
A national award to Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere will spur him to do more for national development.
