Wike’s ally denies alleged involvement in Nwaeke’s trip to Abuja

An ally to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, Prof. Henry Ogiri, has denied involvement on the former Head of Service Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke’s trip to Abuja and his alleged scripted media briefings.
A viral video sparked controversy in Rivers State, with the wife of former Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, alleging that her husband is missing and may have been held hostage.
In the video, she accused Ogiri of orchestrating her husband’s trip to Abuja, alleging that her husband was under duress or intimidated to speak ill against the Governor.
However, Ogiri has denied these allegations, describing them as “poorly rehearsed theatrics.”
Ogiri, in a statement, stated that he has only spoken to Dr. Nwaeke once since leaving the Rivers State cabinet in November 2023.
“I have not spoken with Dr. George Nwaeke since the Supreme Court judgment,” Ogiri said. “And if this allegation was from Dr. George Nwaeke himself, then I would have viewed this from a different perspective.”
He also provided an alibi, stating that he has been in Port Harcourt since February 28, 2025, and has not traveled out of the state.
He claimed to have been working at his office and preparing for the burial of his foster father, which took place on March 22, 2025.
The professor emphasized that he has not spoken to Dr. Nwaeke since the Supreme Court judgment and that telephone service providers and airlines can provide evidence to corroborate his claims.
He urged his supporters and the general public to remain calm, assuring them that the truth will be revealed soon.
