The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has launched Gateway Shield, a new safety and emergency response platform engineered by WilAct (Will & Action) Consulting in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
Gateway Shield is designed to strengthen community policing and improve access to law enforcement through technology. The platform allows citizens to report incidents, request emergency support, and receive real-time assistance from nearby police divisions. It can be accessed through a mobile app on the Google Play Store or App Store under Gatewayshield, through www.thegatewayshield.com, and via a toll-free number, 0800-000-9111.
“GatewayShield was created to make safety accessible to everyone,” said Founder and Partner at WilAct Consulting, Ayo Ogunlowo,. “It allows people to reach the Ogun State Police quickly and confidently while helping law enforcement respond faster and build public trust.”
The platform is powered by a solar-enabled digital command centre that operates around the clock with bilingual response agents and coordinated patrol teams. It represents a practical step toward data-informed policing and modernized public safety systems in Nigeria.
The pilot is currently active in Ogun State, with the potential to expand across the country as part of broader efforts to strengthen security infrastructure through technology.
Gateway Shield demonstrates how strategic collaboration between the public sector and technology partners can transform community safety and rebuild confidence in national institutions.
