ADC accuses APC of infiltrating opposition coalition, leaders in Kaduna

The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to infiltrate and destabilise the coalition of opposition political parties and leaders in the state.

According to the ADC, the alleged move by the APC is aimed at frustrating efforts to reorganise and strengthen the opposition ahead of future elections.

Speaking at a press conference shortly after a leadership and stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Kaduna on Sunday, the ADC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Jafar Sani, claimed that some members of the coalition had been sponsored to file a court case against prominent figures, including former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and others.

He further alleged that the same “mercenary group” had illegally announced the suspension of the ADC State Chairman, Elder Patrick Didam Ambut, as part of a wider plot to weaken the party’s leadership.

Sani, however, reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to rebuilding the ADC in Kaduna with the goal of mobilising citizens to “end the current hopeless APC regime of tyranny.”

Reiterating the expulsion of erring members accused of insubordination and anti-party activities, the zonal vice chairman said: “Having reviewed all developments within the ADC and the coalition in the state, we hereby endorse the decision of the State Working Committee under the leadership of Elder Patrick Didam Ambut to expel the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, and eight others.”

He added that the coalition leaders had also resolved to blacklist Adamu Ahmed Dattijo, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi, and Senator Musa Bello for allegedly initiating a court case against Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Jaafaru Sani, and Bashir Saidu without first exhausting internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

Sani urged coalition leaders, the ADC national leadership, and the public to sever all ties with the affected individuals regarding any party or coalition activity in Kaduna State.

He announced that Senator Nenadi Usman and Muhammad Bashir Saidu had been reinstated as Chairman and Co-Chairman of the coalition, respectively.

In his opening remarks, ADC State Chairman, Elder Patrick Didam Ambut, insisted that the party in Kaduna remains united and would not allow the selfish interests of a few individuals to jeopardise the collective vision of its members.

“The Kaduna ADC is intact and will not tolerate indiscipline from anyone,” Ambut said. “The ADC is the vehicle that will take us to 2027 and beyond. We cannot allow a minority to derail this movement.”
