APC slams PDP, denies promoting crisis in Osun

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied promoting crisis in the state.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its chairman, Sunday Bisi, had, in a statement issued on Wednesday, accused the opposition party of threatening the peace of Osun through its alleged internal wrangling.

Reacting in a statement signed by Kola Olabisi, APC Director of Media and Information, the opposition party accused the PDP “of being haunted by the obvious maladministration which has become the hallmark of Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration as it has recorded abysmal failure in all the facets of governance.”

Olabisi said, “Who else has the characteristic of violence if not the state chapter of the PDP, whose records of violent incidents are numerous, of which the latest was the arrest of a political thug of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) extraction in Osogbo with two guns and several bullets a few days ago?

“Has the conscienceless Osun State PDP chairman forgotten how all the elected political functionaries in his party stepped on the blood of no fewer than 30 innocent souls of the members and supporters of the APC, out of which about 17 of them were killed in Ijesaland by the PDP thugs where Sunday Bisi hails from all in the desperation to rig the elections for the ruling party?

“We are yet to forget how one of our reinstated local government council chairmen, Honourable Remi Abass, was wickedly killed by the PDP hoodlums in Irewole Local Government Council Area of the state, who are now standing trial in a competent court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

“It is evident that the handlers of the ruling party in Osun State are pained by their loss of governance at the local government level to the APC through the 10th February, 2025 judgement of the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State.

“The schism that has become the permanent feature of the PDP right from the national to the ward level is enough to increase the blood level of the PDP chairman in Osun State, as it is a signpost to the fact that he would soon be out of job.”

Olabisi argued that the dwindling of the number of the PDP state governors to six through their defection into the APC, and still counting, would not be a source of a sleepless night to any PDP chieftain or apologist.”

He added, “It is of great concern that a supposed PDP chairman cannot differentiate between a constitutionally-allowed constructive criticism and promotion of crisis by an opposition whose preoccupation is the criticism of the ruling party.

“The forward-looking people of the state should discountenance the hoax rolled out by Mr Sunday Bisi as it is far from the perpetual peace, tranquillity and the rule of law which are the hallmarks of the APC at all its levels.”
