The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has urged members of the 8th Assembly to recommit themselves to their constitutional duties as the legislature commenced its third session.
In his welcome address at the first plenary sitting of the new session, Speaker Guwor called on lawmakers to prioritise the needs of their constituents above all other interests.
He emphasised the importance of unity, focus, and deliberate action as the Assembly continues its legislative mandate in collaboration with the Executive and other stakeholders.
“Our constituents have high expectations. We must remain united, focused, and intentional in our actions as we work to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people,” Guwor said.
The speaker commended his colleagues for what he described as “uncommon team spirit,” acknowledging their unwavering support for the leadership of the House.
“I warmly welcome you all to the Third Session of the 8th Assembly,” Guwor stated. “Let me begin by expressing my profound gratitude to Almighty God for the successful conclusion of the Second Session.”
He also expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for attending the House’s Thanksgiving Service and reception marking the end of the previous session.
“Their presence was both refreshing and colourful. We are indeed grateful to His Excellency,” he noted.
Guwor extended thanks to the immediate past Deputy Governor, Burutu Otuaro, as well as senior colleagues in the National Assembly and other dignitaries who joined the Assembly in celebration.
“May God continue to guide our deliberations and bless Delta State House of Assembly,” he said.
