The wife of the Edo State Governor, Betsy Obaseki, on Saturday urged Edo women to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, promising that the party’s candidate will give them a better future as he recognizes the crucial role women play during elections.

Obaseki spoke during the PDP Women Campaign Council in Irrua, the headquarters of Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.

She appealed to women groups across Esan Central, Esan West, and Igueben LGAs to support the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

Obaseki stressed the importance of choosing capable leadership, noting that the quality of governance directly impacts daily life, including economic conditions such as rising food prices.

“Elections should not be treated lightly,” she remarked, underscoring how leadership can influence the nation’s prosperity or challenges.

Also, the wife of the PDP candidate, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, appealed to the women for their massive support and likened their support to the care a mother gives her child.

She expressed confidence in their backing to help her husband secure victory in the September 21st Edo governorship election.

PDP leaders from Esanland urged the electorate to show their gratitude to Governor Obaseki by voting for Ighodalo.

The Special Adviser on Political Matters for the Edo Central Senatorial District, Mrs. Ihenyen, praised the governor’s focus on substantial work over monetary politics and encouraged the women to cast their votes for Ighodalo as a continuation of good governance.

The event concluded with a united resolve among the women to ensure the PDP’s success in the forthcoming election.
