Katsina ex-SSG dumps APC for PDP
Former Secretary to State Government (SSG), Katsina, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Inuwa’s defection came after he fell out with the ruling APC and the state government, over his inability to clinch the party’s gubernatorial ticket at the recent primary poll.
The Guardian learnt that an unwritten agreement had been reached for Inuwa to become the party’s flag bearer. But the former Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) boss, Dr. Dikko Radda, won the ticket, while Inuwa came second.
Following his loss, the former SSG started fraternising with members of opposition parties, leading to speculations he would dump the APC.
Speaking to his supporters, yesterday, at his campaign office, Inuwa said his decision to leave the APC followed pressure from his supporters to join another political party.
According to him, APC had not been fair to him, especially following the outcome of the gubernatorial primary, even as said he still had issues with some key members of the ruling party.
Immediately after his defection, the former SSG’s supporters stormed the compound of his campaign office, and began tearing down APC posters that adorned the walls. They also sang pro-PDP slogans, vowing to give their support to the PDP and to ensure it wins majority votes in the coming general elections.
