Luke, Onyong, others win PDP tickets in Akwa Ibom
The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke, has defeated the incumbent member of Etinan in the National Assembly, Sam Ikon, with 323 votes.Ikon, former Speaker of the Assembly, polled 31 votes.
In Uyo Federal Constituency and Itu/Ibiono Ibom, the incumbent members defeated other contenders on the platform of the PDP.They are Michael Onyong, who scored 383 votes to defeat his closest rival, Godwin Henry, who scored 83 votes and Dr. Henry Archibong, who scored 162 votes to defeat his closest rival, a serving member in the state assembly, Mr. Ime Okon, who scored 83 votes.
Others federal constituencies whose results have been released included, Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika with former commissioner for information Mr. Aniekan Umana being elected with 261 votes. Oruk Anam/Ukanafun, Unyime Idem scored 160 votes to defeat three other contenders, Ikono/Ini has Mr. Ukpong Udo as the winner with 130 votes.
For Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara/Essien Udim, Nsikak Ekong, a former member of the state assembly scored 375 votes to clinch the ticket.As at the time of filling this report, the PDP Secretariat is still awaiting results from the three remaining federal constituencies of Eket, Ikot Abasi/Mkpat Enin/ Eastern Obolo and Oron federal constituencies.
