Mbah: Crisis in Enugu APC as Agballah-led exco rejects NWC’s dissolution

Enugu govt wins Big at Presidential GovTech Awards

The dissolved Enugu State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Ugochukwu Agballah has rejected its dissolution by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Meanwhile, the state government received multiple awards at the 2025 Presidential GovTech Awards, underscoring the success of Governor Mbah’s administration in driving digital transformation and innovation in governance.

In a statement at the weekend signed by Agballah and other aggrieved members of the dissolved SEC, in Enugu, they declared the NWC action as unlawful as well as null and void.

The embattled SEC members, while citing the relevant sections of the party’s constitution, stated that only the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) or the National Executive Committee (NEC) could order disciplinary actions against the state executive committee of the party following laid down processes.

The SEC members maintained that the action of NWC “flagrantly contravenes the constitution of the party” and undermines the principles of fairness, equity and due process.

“We therefore direct all organs of the APC in Enugu, ward, local council, zonal and state to remain in their offices as duly elected officers and to continue discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

“We urge our members to remain calm, law-abiding and resolute as we take appropriate constitutional steps to challenge this illegal directive through the appeals process provided by our party’s constitution,” they stated.

At its 179th meeting on October 9, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat, the NWC dissolved the Enugu SEC and appointed a seven-man caretaker committee led by Dr Ben Nwoye.

Following the action of the NWC, speculations went wild that the dissolution was a condition precedent to usher in Mbah into the party.

At the GovTech Awards, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, weekend, the Enugu State Geographic Information System Service (ENGIS) clinched two major awards, including the Award of Excellence in Geographic Information Service (GIS).
