Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irele Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State have advised the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to bury any thoughts of ruling the state in the next 16 years.
While declaring that there is no vacancy in the Alagbaka Government House, the APC leaders claimed that the ruling party was not ready to give up power to the opposition party.
The chieftains, including the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, Barr. Morayo Lebi, and the Council Chairman of the party, Chief Zachariah Omoge, among others, declared that the party will win the forthcoming poll with a landslide victory.
Speaking during a meeting in the council, Odimayo, who described Aiyedatiwa as a unifier, disclosed that there was no opposition to the reelection of the governor.
He said, “We have no regard for any other candidate in the Irele local government. Those people the PDP said they decamped to their party are here today to show their support for Aiyedatiwa. Other parties are just lying. Our people have a lot of respect for the leadership of APC in Irele local government. They trust us, and they are fully with us.
“We called for this meeting to gather all of our grassroots mobilizers together. They made things happen during the last governorship election, and we need to bring them together to ensure that we unify them for the forthcoming governorship election.
“All the ward chairmen and unit coordinators are here. We are meeting them to ensure that the good works of Governor Aiyedatiwa will continue to resonate in all the nooks and crannies of the local government. He will win with a minimum of 90% of the votes in the local government. 60 road contracts have been approved by Governor Aiyedatiwa, and schools have been awarded for rehabilitation. The mother of Aiyedatiwa is also from Irele.
“Local government and ward coordinators are to come together for the governorship election. The governor loves the people and is concerned with the development of the state.”
On his part, the council chairman revealed that ward meetings have begun across the local government areas in the state.
He added, “There should also be unit meetings. Coordinators have been appointed for the wards. APC will spend 16 years in office. As you prepare for the governorship election, you should also prepare for the local government election. We must ensure that Governor Aiyedatiwa wins the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
“There is already a provision for each of the wards in the local government to hold their meetings regularly. In the Irele local government, there is no opposition against the reelection of the governor because those who are in opposition have joined the ruling party. Aiyedatiwa will win with about 95% of the votes.”
Also, one of the governorship aspirants of the party in the last governorship primary election, Morayo Lebi, disclosed that all the aspirants of the party who contested against Governor Aiyedatiwa are currently on the same page with him.
