Ondo poll: YP candidate vows to run transparent government
The Youth Party (YP) candidate in the Ondo Governorship election scheduled for Saturday, Adegoke Kehinde Paul, has promised to run a transparent administration if he wins the election.
Speaking to Guardian TV, Paul said his interest in the election was driven by the desire to bring genuine progress, and responsible and respectable leadership to the people of Ondo.
He said he was not unaware of the challenges faced by citizens of the state ranging from inadequate infrastructure to limited job opportunities.
He expressed the belief that meaningful change is possible with a clear vision, adding that his goal is to set up a government that listens and prioritises transparency with investment in every Ondo citizen.
Paul said the election is a chance to bring the desired changes Ondo State truly deserves.
“Our approach will allow us to respond swiftly with changes that put our people first and make us an alternative for voters seeking genuine change,” he said.
Paul, who is contesting against the incumbent, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said they met recently but denied receiving anything from him.
This was as he affirmed his candidacy in the election, saying it was a chance to show that the youths can bring a fresh perspective to the system.
He promised that his administration would implement a transparent budget system to ensure funds are allocated efficiently, adding that the public will be given access to track their progress.
The YP candidate also promised investment in youth empowerment and the creation of job opportunities in the state.
He expressed the belief that YP will do well in the election despite being a new party, citing instances of elections in Lagos, Abia and Taraba states.
