• Party chairman summons aggrieved members, seeks peace
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State, has passed a vote of no confidence on Deputy Governor of the state, Kola Adewusi; former National Secretary of the party, Wale Oladipo, and the Ife East party Chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde, over alleged anti-party activities.
This decision was taken in a communique issued at the PDP Ife Federal Constituency meeting held on Monday evening at the residence of the Osun East Senatorial leader in Ile-Ife.
The party flayed Adewusi and Oladipo for holding meetings with member of the House of Representative from Ife, Taofeek Ajilesoro, who just defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The communiqué, which was signed by the Financial Secretary of the party, Adesoji Adegoke; former Deputy Speaker, Ropo Oyewale, and 27 others, including Commissioners for Education and Inter-Party Affairs, Dipo Eluwole and Biyi Odunlade, respectively, stated that the action of the said leaders constitutes a danger to the party in Ifeland.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Chairman of the party in the state, Sunday Bisi, has appealed to the aggrieved stakeholders to give peace a chance. Bisi said that the party does not need a crisis at the moment.
IN another development, a United Kingdom (UK)-based sociopolitical group, AMBO Movement, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC to support the governorship bid of the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, in Osun State in 2026.
This was contained in a communique signed by the Chairman of the group, Mayowa Olabisi, and Public Relations Officer, Olawale Mikali, yesterday.
The group also appealed to the leadership of the APC in the state and at the national level to support Oyebamiji’s aspiration. According to the group, after extensive consultations and review of the political landscape in Osun State, it unanimously called for the support of Oyebamiji.
It said that the decision was based on Oyebamiji’s “proven capacity, widespread popularity, and unmatched financial acumen.” The group, which stated that Oyebamiji’s strategic financial leadership during his tenure as finance commissioner led to the clearance of pension backlogs, restoration of workers’ full salary profiles, and the implementation of bond-based payment plans that stabilised the state’s fiscal health, said:
“We urge the APC leadership to heed the voice of the people and rally behind a candidate who embodies competence, compassion, and continuity.
“The time for strategic selection is now, and Oyebamiji stands as the beacon of hope for Osun State’s future.”
