All Progressives Congress League of Professionals (ALP) has blamed what it described as “desperate politicians” for the ultimatum issued against the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, asking him to resign within two weeks.
In a statement yesterday, ALP National Coordinator, Marlin Daniel, insisted that those behind the ultimatum, a group known as APC Youth Solidarity Network (APC-YSN), were not genuine party members but “sponsored goons” working for opposition political interests.
Recall that APC-YSN, which claimed to be a factional youth group within the APC, accused Yilwatda of weak leadership and threatened to mobilise for nationwide protests if he failed to step down.
However, ALP dismissed APC-YSN as non-existent within the official APC structure, emphasising that the group lacked credibility and authority. The group said the narrative that Yilwatda’s leadership had weakened the APC and harmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects was false and politically motivated.
