
The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) have entered into a reciprocity agreement to enable the parties to cooperate on professional research and knowledge.
NIQS president, Kene Nzekwe, and Chair of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Arif Ghaffur signed the agreement at the yearly Congress and 65th general meeting of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors held in Ontario.
With the agreement, a corporate member (fellow or member) of the NIQS in good standing may be elected as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) member of the CIQS upon the completion of the bye-laws, rules, regulations and ethics portion of the CIQS test of professional experience practice problem.
A member (professional quantity surveyor) of the CIQS in good standing, may be elected as a corporate member (fellow or member) of the NIQS as long as he/she has completed the one-year professional experience as a quantity surveyor in Nigeria in circumstances, which will enable a corporate member of the NIQS to confirm the professional activities undertaken among others.
The NIQS and CIQS agree to exchange professional research and knowledge and to cooperate on any topics of mutual interest or liaise on matters of mutual concern.
The NIQS delegates were led by Nzekwe. Other Portfolio officers who attended the congress were Deputy President; Dr Aminu Bashir and Secretary, Marketing and Corporate Affairs; Jonathan Daniel Alwashi. Also in attendance were the President of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), Obafemi Onashile and other members of the institute both at home and in the diaspora.
