
Onayiga died on July 17, 2022, at the age of 66, while Ada Ameh died on July 17, following an alleged illness related to depression two years after she lost her only child, Aladi Gift.
The obsequies for the late Elizabeth Oyebowale Onayiga (nee Awojobi) began on Tuesday, August 16, with a night of tributes held at the open field of the National Theatre, Lagos. The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) facilitated the event. A service of songs and a Christian wake keep programme followed on July 18, 2022.
The funeral event was held at the RCCG, Joyful Assembly, Ikorodu. Onayiga is said to be a Pastor of the RCCG. The fiery actress of the stage and screen was finally laid to rest yesterday, at the Western Cemetery, Ikorodu, Lagos.
A native of Ikorodu in Lagos, Auntie Sola, as younger colleagues call the actress, was popularly known for her role as Ireti in the popular Fuji House of Commotion, a sitcom produced by the late Amaka Igwe.
Meanwhile, the late Ada Ameh will be interred in her family compound in Ogobia, Otukpo, on August 26, according to a statement signed by Abahi Ameh, Ada Ameh’s younger sister. However, the burial in her family compound in Ogobia, Otukpo, will be preceded by two candlelight services.

The first organised by the Emeka Rollas Ejezie-led Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) will hold on August 19, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, while the second candlelight event will hold on August 25 at Saint Mary’s Primary School, Ogobia, Benue State.
A novelty football match has also been planned in honour of the actress who, will be remembered for living delightfully the role of Emuakpor Johnson in the long-running series on African Magic titled The Johnsons. The novelty football match will be played in the Ajegunle area of Lagos where the late Ada Ameh was raised.
