Sheikh Akoshile urges Muslim unity as Lagos hosts world Maulid celebration

The Grand Khalifa of Tijaniyya for Lagos State, Sheikh Aminullah Abd’Salam Akoshile, has urged Muslims in Nigeria to close ranks and embrace dialogue for peaceful coexistence in the country.

He said this yesterday in a message to delegates attending the 6th World Maulid Anniversary of Jam’iyatAsariddeen at-Tijjaniyya Nigeria slated for Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

Sheikh Akoshile disclosed that the Maulid is expected to be graced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the Grand Khalifa of Tijaniyya in Nigeria and 14th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, as the Grand Host.

While noting the leadership role of Lagos State Governor, BabajideSanwo-Olu, Khalifa Akoshile said the Maulid underscores the evergreen love the Muslims have for the noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

He emphasised the need for all Muslims to emulate the exemplary life of the Prophet, adding that unity is desirable for a harmonious coexistence.
On citizens’ obligations to the nation, the Grand Khalifa said it behoves every citizen to pray for the leaders, to offer constructive advice, and make their meaningful contributions to national development.

Sheikh Akoshile, who urged public office holders to display exemplary virtues of discipline, probity, and accountability, said the youth have a huge responsibility to prove their readiness for leadership.

He urges all Muslims to be actively engaged in natiobal peace-building, adding that the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbhu) is a significant act of benevolence of Almighty Allah to humanity.

The Grand Khalifa of Lagos State, who said the 6th World Maulid Anniversary in Nigeria, promises to be a beacon of inspiration, emphasised the shared values of peace, faith, and selfless contributions of all to the greater good.

He expressed optimism that the event would be an eye opener for all to behold the enviable brotherhood of the Tijaniyya movement in Nigeria.
