A contestant during the 2022 Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Presidential election, David Doherty has urged Samuel Chukwueze to bring his “A” game to the Super Eagles.

Doherty said this on his Facebook page on Thursday after Chukwueze’s goal helped AC Milan defeat Newcastle United 2-1 in their final UEFA Champions League group encounter.

According to Sempre Milan, the goal scored by the 24-year-old 68 seconds after coming on at Saint James’ Park is the second fastest scored by a substitute in the competition.

The Super Eagles struggled in recent times while playing for Milan in the Serie A just like for Nigeria but he is leaving a mark for the club in Europe.

Ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, Doherty has called on Chukwueze to up his game for the Super Eagles.

“What Nigerians are asking is simple, bring your “A” game to the green and white colours of Nigeria, Chukwueze and the rest who are still a shadow of themselves in the country’s colour,” Doherty said.

“Jose Peseiro also needs to spell out his playing approach to the team or else these players will never produce their best under the Portuguese manager.

“Lastly, you can not work and not get paid for your labour, NFF should also do their part in paying up all outstanding allowances and bonuses due to these players. We want them to give their best, we should do our bits as administrators.”
