Hon. Esosa Iyawe, Member representing Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has demonstrated his unwavering dedication to youth development and sports with the donation of a bus to the Edo State Football Association (EFA). The announcement was made during the grand finale of the Oba of Benin Under-18 Football Tournament held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The football tournament concluded with an exhilarating match where Delight FC triumphed over Irex Sports FC in a 2-1 victory. However, the day’s defining moment came with Iyawe’s donation of a bus to the Edo Football Association.
Speaking at the event, Iyawe reaffirmed his commitment to his Mini Bus Empowerment Scheme and youth-focused initiatives, emphasizing the transformative power of sports in shaping the future of young Nigerians.
“Our young people are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is our collective responsibility to provide them with platforms to thrive,” Iyawe said. “Sports is one such platform that not only unites us but also empowers our youth to dream big and achieve greatness.”
He called on well-meaning Nigerians to join in empowering young talents through initiatives that foster development and provide opportunities for growth.
The Edo Football Association lauded Iyawe’s gesture, describing it as a landmark contribution that will significantly enhance the association’s operations and capacity to support grassroots football.
“This donation is a testament to Hon. Iyawe’s passion for youth and sports development,” Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, Chairman of the EFA stated.
The bus will serve as a vital resource for the association, facilitating smoother operations and offering young footballers improved opportunities to participate in tournaments and training programs.
Iyawe’s impactful message and tangible support at the tournament further cement his reputation as a leader deeply invested in the growth and empowerment of the youth. By supporting initiatives like the Oba of Benin Under-18 Football Tournament, he is ensuring that the next generation of leaders in Edo State has the resources and platforms they need to succeed.
As the curtains closed on the tournament, it was clear that Iyawe’s donation had left an indelible mark, inspiring players, stakeholders, and the broader community to strive for excellence and unity through sports.
