Paraguayan international Julio Enciso has completed a transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to French side Strasbourg for a reported £16 million, signing a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.
Enciso, who joined Brighton from Libertad in 2022 for £9.5 million, spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich following a period affected by injuries.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler said the move reflected Enciso’s desire for consistent playing time, particularly in a year leading up to the World Cup.
“Julio is keen to play regularly, particularly in a World Cup year. We fully appreciate that, but we are not able to guarantee him regular games. This opportunity with Strasbourg gives him the chance to play both in Ligue 1 and in Europe,” Hürzeler stated.
Enciso’s time at Brighton included several notable performances, but injuries limited his opportunities to establish himself as a regular starter. Hürzeler expressed gratitude for the midfielder’s contribution to the club, saying, “We’d like to thank him for his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
