Nottingham Forest have opened discussions with Emmanuel Dennis over the mutual termination of his contract, reports nottinghampost.com.
Sky Sports has confirmed talks are taking place between club officials and the player’s representatives.
The Nigerian international, who arrived at the City Ground from Watford in 2022, spent the second half of last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
During his time at the Sky Bet Championship outfit, the forward failed to score in six appearances but registered one assist as Rovers narrowly missed out on the play-off places.
His last competitive appearance for Forest dates as far back as the 2022/23 season against Crystal Palace, when Steve Cooper guided the Reds to survival on their return to the Premier League.
Dennis started his career in 2016 at Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk before spells at Club Brugge, FC Koln and then Watford in 2021. After just one year at Vicarage Road, where he shot to prominence in the English top flight after scoring 10 and assisting six in 33 games, Cooper signed the 27-year-old for a reported £20 million fee.
Now, with his future up in the air, and continued investment in the squad meaning even more competition in his position, it’s looking almost guaranteed that Dennis’ time at the City Ground will come to end.
