
Ebi urged the students to positively present the country in good light to their contemporaries and the world at large.“We are building change agents. We are sending them out to rewrite the narratives other people of the world have about us. Not all Nigerians are fraudulent or corrupt; rather, we are hard working people. Go and debunk the pre-conceived knowledge about Nigeria.
“Even though we have serious issues in the country, we have not lost our human capital all together. We still have intelligent, sensible, hard working and patriotic people. Remember you are representing the country, your family and your community. So represent us well,” she said.
Highlighting that the global pre-university experience has been a very successful programme for Nigerian students, she added that through the intercultural experience, the students become global citizens and are desirous to impact their nation.
Chairperson sub-committee, Mrs. Comfort Coleman, also charged the students to display hard work and good conduct typical of a Nigerian, by changing the bad notion held by other people of the world about the country. She warned the students not to conform to the permissiveness of the environment they find themselves, but uphold the values learnt from Nigeria.
