Why being unique helps food brands – Dele Adeniji

Long before food brand, Foodies berthed on the Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos sometime in 2020 there were many of such on-ground catering to the needs of upwardly mobile people who populate the area. But no sooner the brand docked on the ever-busy environment than the game changed. In less than a year another branch opened as the patronage was more than the management could manage.

As much as the landscape is home to many eateries, bars, restaurants and hotels it is impossible to miss Foodies basically because of the crowd that thronged the location. There is almost always traffic of people and vehicles, not only in the car park but spilling over to the sidewalks and the other side of the road.

In a recent parley with newsmen, the manager of the outlet, Dele Adeniji explained the uniqueness of the food brand, saying the concept was founded on healthy living rather than just food.

“Foodies is one of the most recent fast food places that is taking care of people in terms of meals they eat. We don’t only handle meals, we basically deal and we are more conscious about meals people consume these days, you know, these days it is not just to eat but eating rightly at the right time.

“Most of the meals that we prepare are meals that are good for the body not meals that will be an issue to your body after consuming it, and aside from the fact that we take care of meals you can see the environment, the environment is wow! Foodies is like a home away from home.

“We tend to give a wow experience to people that come around us. We do local, we do continental and intercontinental. When you talk about the local, people tend to come in and eat what they eat at home, it’s as if you are eating from your house,” he said.

According to him, their patronage has increased tremendously over the last few months and thus necessitated expansion. He said more and more people who have enjoyed their food and service have put in popular demands to open more stores across various prime locations on the Island.

He said, “The brain behind our expansion effective this January, our Managing Director through the management has spoken and we are going to establish more outlets in spectacular places in Lagos. Aside from the fact that we have two outlets on Admiralty Way, in this 2022, we intend to have like two along Ajah Road, we are also planning to go to Ikoyi in Awolowo Road, and of course to the Mainland by opening a branch in G.R.A, Ikeja.

“Presently, we have our presence in Dubai, we have places we want to open in Abuja and that is one of the reasons the MD is still in Abuja now. We spoke yesterday and the day before on branches coming up in Abuja, so the expansion rate is going to be massive. It is going to be impressive for Foodies this year as we are poised to be known in every nook and cranny of Lagos.”

At Foodies you are not exactly given a menu to peruse, it is the Mama Put experience as you have to approach the food stand to make a pick of what you want. That’s simple enough, isn’t it? But at Foodies you are dead wrong as you to make a choice from a wide range of cuisines ranging from local to continental and intercontinental.

“The kind of Egusi we cook is homemade Egusi in a modernized way. Our pounded yam is not a poundo yam, we do the pounding of the yam here. Aside from that, we have varieties of rice, if you look at our display there, we have like 17 to 18 types of rice ranging from jollof rice, fried rice, Cantonese, jambalaya, wache rice, ofada rice, Aso rice, brown rice just to mention a few. So, there is no way you will come in even though you don’t have the appetite to eat, you will be forced to eat,” he said with pride,” the manager added with pride.
