Over 3000 pensioners in Cross River state left out in the last verification exercise will soon be paid.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, gave the assurance at the weekend in Calabar while reacting to the plight of the pensioners that could not get their May pension.

Last week, hundreds of ex-workers had besieged the accountant general’s office in Calabar, protesting the non-payment of their May and June pension and omission of their names from the pay roll despite undertaking the screening exercise carried out by the state to ascertain the actual number of pensioners.

The commissioner said whatever delay or omission was not deliberate, assuring that the government was working to correct the situation.
