Niger Delta group distances self from anti-Dokubo protest
A group of Niger Delta ex-agitators has distance itself from a protest against the Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Prof. Charles Dokubo.
Socio-economic activities were disrupted early in the week in Bayelsa State when some ex-agitators protested against Dokubo’s appointment.
But a faction, comprising Salt Water and Sombreiro Voice groups, described the protesters as enemies of the region.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Otonyemieba Kuna, also known as General Obenes, and Eferebo Opakariari, insisted that detractors, who never wished the region well, sponsored the protesters.
They said no segment of the Ijaw nation totally owns the Presidential Amnesty Programme and as such, none should expect the coordinator to be continually appointed from a particular section.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Dokubo, who they described as a man of integrity suitable to head the programme.
