The District Governor of Rotary Club, District 9110, Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo, has said that Rotary Club is meant to empower the people in the community.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to Festac Town recently, Ogunbadejo, who is responsible for monitoring of activities of all the 102 two clubs in Lagos and Ogun states, said: “Statutorily and compulsorily, every active club must receive the district governor once a year for the district governor to open the books of the clubs to see where they are doing well and where they are not doing too well to help with advises and recommendations.

“There is need to make it possible for the young ones to be part of the club.”According to him, Rotary is something that people should enjoy, noting: “It is a system that we should allow to work. We have leaders in the club to help the president.

“We have no legs or hands in Rotary, membership is the key. We need quality members. When you come to meetings with many quality people, you have varieties of thoughts.

“We must be careful of people we are inviting into Rotary. They must be people of integrity, people who can add value to the progress of the club. You can even invite some of your friends to contribute to the progress of the club.

“Help the less privileged people in society. Look for indigent, but brilliant students. Go through the school principals, head boys and head girls.” President, Rotary Club of Festac Town, Mr. Ndubuisi Onuoha, promised to work with the members of the club to make the club better. “We have plans to help empower indigent women. We have given scholarship to some people already,” he said.
