Six people died when a five-storey building under construction collapsed on Tuesday morning in Lekki, Lagos.
Eight persons were rescued by rescue workers from the debris of the collaped building. The incident was confirmed by an official of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye.
“We have recovered six dead bodies so far. Six others have also been rescued alive,” Farinloye said.
Rescue workers were trying to pull out more people from the rubble of the collapsed building in the Lekki district, which has some of the most expensive real estate in the city.
“We still hear cries and voices from the rubble indicating that some people are still trapped,” Farinloye said, adding the cause of the collapse was not yet determined.
