Delta APC sets 2019 agenda, serves Okowa quit notice

Buoyed by its new found unity as a result of the recent Supreme Court judgment which affirmed the leadership of the Jones Erue executive, the Delta State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed optimism at winning the state in the 2019 elections.

Erue, who spoke yesterday at the party’s secretariat in Asaba while addressing members, urged them to go to their respective wards to ensure full mobilization ahead of the elections.

Recalling that the party had suffered series of setbacks as a result of the internal quarrels, he said he was happier that all quarrels have been laid to rest with members of the party working together as “one family.”

He said, “We have suffered enough in the hands of PDP members in the state and our internal quarrels. But we thank God today we have resolved our differences and we are now one family.”

The party chairman noted that with unity of purpose, it would be easier to win all elections, adding, “I urge you to go back to your respective local councils and work for the successes of the part rather than shying away from your responsibilities.”

In his remarks, the South-South Leader of the party, Otusan Illia Eta said with the resolution for the party members to work harder, it was crystal clear that 2019 will be easier and expressed satisfaction that the party in the state has resolved its differences among members.

According to him, “I am happy that there is peace in the party and I do hope that the peace would be long lasting one to ensure victory for the party come 2019.”

Also, Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu, said he was humbled by the settlement of the crisis, adding “we will succeed in our collective efforts and collective responsibilities as we work with our mandate from the national leadership to ensure APC rule the state in 2019.”

Following a voodoo scare and mayhem among the members last year, the secretariat was sealed up by armed anti-riot policemen but all that seemed to be history at the weekend following the open show of love and pumping of hands by the faithful during the meeting.

With the setting up of eight different committees, Erue said that he was happy at the massive turn out of the party’s heavyweights which included former Chairman, Chief Adolor Okotie Eboh, former House of Representatives member Temi Harriman and a host of others.

The chairman advised the party faithful to channel their energies to ousting PDP, which has held on to the reins of power in the state since 1999 instead of quarreling.
