The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday said 18 persons died in an accident on Sunday evening on the Akwanga-Nasarawa Eggon highway.

The Nasarawa State sector commander of the corps, Ismaila Kugu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia that the mishap involved an articulated vehicle and a commuter bus belonging to the Benue Links Transport Company.

He said 13 persons died on the spot while 11 others were hospitalised in Eggon and Lafia.

Kugu added: “As of this evening (yesterday) when we went for a follow-up, five of the 11 injured persons we took to the hospitals for treatment have died.”
