FAO flags off dry season farming in North East

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has flagged off the 2019 dry season farming to support 35,000 small-scale farming households in the North East.

The flag-off, which took place at Farm Centre, Maiduguri, targeted small-scale farmers, whose assets were destroyed in the decade-long terrorism in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

FAO’s media advisory released on Friday to journalists in Maiduguri disclosed that farmers would be given lifelines to gradually restore their livelihoods through crop support, livestock restocking and aquaculture.

“The activity will reach about 35,000 smallholder farmers in North East Nigeria with seeds of vegetables and high market value crops,” it stated.
