
Respite yesterday came the way of protesting local farmers of Ugwuneshi, in Awgu Local Council area of Enugu State, whose farmlands and crops were last week, allegedly destroyed by Fulani herdsmen.
The state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who visited the area announced a donation of nine million naira to the
affected farmers.
It would be recalled that the community on March 17, reportedly had disagreement with suspected Fulani herdsmen, who they accused of destroying their farmlands and crops.
However, in the ensuing clash, men “in military uniform” on March 17, reportedly invaded the community in three trucks and arrested 76 members of the community, who they took away to Umuahia, in Abia State, and
remanded in custody.
