Nigerian microbiologist, Professor Ayodele Adeleye, who claimed to have discovered a cure for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), yesterday visited the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office in Kaduna State to present the drug.

While presenting the drug at a press conference in Kaduna, Adeleye challenged the Federal Government to provide five cases for free treatment.

During the visit to NAFDAC, he presented a sample of the drug before the agency’s zonal coordinator who received him and advised that the drug be repackaged and presented formally during Kaduna working day for proper investigation and verification in the laboratory.

The researcher told the zonal head and the state coordinator of the agency, who came much later, that he was directed to quickly submit a sample of his drugs to NAFDAC office, since Friday for onward delivery to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

After exhaustive discussions, Adeleye conceded to the advice to go back and repackage the drug, and submit it on Wednesday, May 13.

The state coordinator also guided him on how to register and pay before the presentation.

The don insisted on the efficacy of the drug he developed out of intense research for the cure of COVID-19 while pledging his readiness to defend the drug before any international body like the World Health Organisation (WHO).
