
The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Samuel Taiwo, said there are only 24 CORS at present, stressing that there is a need to reposition towards increasing internally generated revenue (IGR).

He said the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing was packaging a documentary to create public awareness, which would provide the needed geospatial inputs to relevant authorities.
Taiwo stated that it would enable the government to resolve social and environmental challenges.

“We’ve already partnered with private companies that would install the equipment across the country.
“CORS allows streaming of geospatial data and other useful signals. We have developed a high-powered data centre, which would soon be commissioned by the government.”
Similarly, the SGoF stated that his office has entered into a partnership with competent companies to help provide the required number of CORS to lessen the huge financial burden on the Federal Government’s coffers.
