This year’s Annual Business Seminars of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMF)- Nigeria, South West District 3, Lagos, would be focusing on the need for Nigerians to diversify the economy by exploring non-oil options.
At press conference to unveil the programme, the District Coordinator, Fola Aguda, noted that Nigeria’s failure to diversify its economy from over-dependence on easy money from the oil sector has exposed the national economy to extreme vulnerabilities in the face of declining oil prices.
He noted that the neglect of the development of other critical sectors of the economy has turned the oil boom to an oil doom, adding: “The plummeting global oil prices and serious revenue decline has exposed our folly as a nation and accentuated the urgent need to examine the non-oil options within the Nigerian economy.”
He stated that this year’s seminar, with the theme, ‘Non-Oil Options in the Nigerian Economy,’ would hold on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at Lagos Sheraton & Towers, Ikeja Lagos.
“We have carefully selected experts and policy makers to examine various opportunities available in the non-oil sectors and to prepare participants to take up the challenges of exploring such opportunities,” he noted.
